Minor bug fix in measurememodule that produced false error when input channel 0 was not used for the microphone feed has been fixed.

Improved helpfile. Including how to use Audiolense together with John River Media Center. Up to 6 channels of correction is supported for Audio and video, and 100% pure Asio playback for audio files. Highly recommended if it fits with the setup.

Best Regards

Hi Bernt,

I was wondering if you could outline future up grades to audiolense for 2010 or any new features?
Also the progress on a convolver for the mac?

Thanks in advance Nathan

Hi Nathan,

There will basically be incremental improvements to Audiolense in 2k10. At least as far as the filter generation part is concerned. And we hope  to be able to present a new version this year; An Audiolense Pro. It will have a lot of  the same as Audiolense XO, but it will come with functions more geared towards specific needs and requirements in the professional arena.

The most exciting news for existing Audiolense users is perhaps that we (Audiolense Ltd) are working on a runtime solution. At the moment I am working with developing a DSP core, tailor made to meet current and future requirements . We expect to deliver  this runtime functionality in different packages eventually, and our ambition is to get it out in the market this year. The packaging is not clear at the moment. It will most probably be a  VST plugin in the first instance, but we intend to follow up  with a more integrated solution later that doesn’t require a plugin host. Our base case is to enable the user to choose player and then make everything as simple, good, sturdy and user friendly from there and out to the speakers as possible. Thus, we have high hopes to improve the user friendliness of the runtine filtering this year. In the long run we are aiming for a much more integrated, user friendly, sturdy and exciting runtime solution than those currently available to Audiolense users. Also, we have a lot of ideas that goes beyond the format of plain convolution. Having our own runtime solution will enable us to develop some of these ideas into new and hopefully attractive options.

No work on a mac convolver yet, unfortunately. But Mac  is moving rapidly up the priority ladder. Our targeting the pro segment makes this an even higher priority.

A few of my colleges in Audiolense Ltd are also working on some very exciting hardware, and we  hope to be able to do prototype  demos within first half of this year.  If all goes well, Audiolense Ltd will become a frontrunner in the hifi  business. A frontrunner that brings new and exciting offerings to the market – sotware and hardware. We aim to become an OEM manufacturer, but  we  also have plans of continuing serving the diy community the same way Juice Hifi have been doing the last years, but eventually with a broader range of offerings.

As with all startups, plans can and will be changed. We are very responsive to market needs and opportunities, so there will be priority changes as we move on.

Kind regards,

Bernt

Hi Bernt,

this are really good news.

Audiolense is meanwhile the central part of my audio system and the
most beneficial. For me it isn´t any longer imaginabel to listen to
music without audiolense. Especially the digital XO is an enormous
step forward, which enables a soundquality which is close to perfect!
The usability is good and measurements are really fast done.

My "most wanted" are:
- Use of Audiolense without a VST-Host (to chosse any player which is
wanted)
- Use of Audiolense with more than 3 way´s (this is the limitation of
JRiver).

THX for the good work at audiolense 3.3 and your support in the first
day´s!

best regards

Markus

The latest version of J.River supports 7.1, or 4-ways.

Ah.. the sweet smell of flowers.

I really appreciate it. Thanks.

Your concerns regarding runtime is pretty much on par with ours, and we have
prioritized accordingly.

I just saw a mention that JRiver now has expanded to 7.1. This may be
worthwhile to check out if you need a couple of more channels.

Kind regards,

Bernt

Hi Bernt

Thanks for the reply, I look forward to the updates in the coming year and also wish you success in your OEM venture.
I would appreciate it greatly if you could keep me posted on these updates and would be happy to help test the products in development.

thanks Nathan

This is indeed great news. It is the runtime side that has been holding me back from really diving into the HTPC / room correction world. I couldn't get various VST hosts or ConvolverVST to operate reliably. Endless BSODs. Every so often Convolver would "forget" its partitions setting and develop severe latency. At least for stereo your recommendation of J River with Convolver has worked well. I had hoped to find a solution that supports Blu Ray without complication.

The other problem was trying to get Windows to behave like a DVD player rather than a computer. So many things get in the way of booting straight up into a media player so that my spouse could just turn it on, stick in a disk and hit play. Has anyone had good luck turning off all of the various pop-ups and interruptions Windows is littered with now?

Anyway, bravo for tackling the weak link in the process.

Frank.

Just to clarify. Are the options 7.1 _or_ 4 ways? I would like to
run 7.1 with 2 way crossovers on each channel, so I would need the 7.1
to have 14 channels for speakers and 1 for sub..

Thanks

It' 8 channels in total, so unfortunately you have to look for another solution.

It's only 8 channels total.

But I have reason to believe that 14 will be within reach soon inside
JRiver. It will almost certainly be available for pure Audio. I am not sure
whether it will work for video too, because there you have to rely on
ffdshow, ac3 filter or another codec where you can specify the number of
outputs.

"The playback problem" is however an area that we pay a lot of attention to,
and we will not rest until you can have all the channels of correction you
need for audio and video playback.

Kind regards,

Bernt
