In the immortal words of Miss Penelope Pitstop... "hay-elp!  hay-elp!".

With the tremor I have in my extremities, I know my limits...and small-scale soldering is beyond them.

The previous attempt at this project was....ugly...to say the least (and failed in fairly short order), so I need someone not only steady-of-hand, but with plenty of soldering experience.  You'll also need to be able to clear up the mess made in the last attempt.

The LEDs are currently mounted under the vehicle, so it may take us a few minutes to unmount & remount them (I'll help with that part).

For reference, these are the LEDs you'll be working on.  LINK

Once again, this is a PAID GIG.  You tell me what's fair (hourly or for the whole job) & I'll pay it if it's in my budget.

Thanks & lookin forward to workin with you.

How much soldering is there? I bet if you provide the beer you could propose a "help me re-solder my junk" night and get a few volunteers. I'd be willing to spend an hour or two on it among good company (or at least the closest we can come to that, har har)

4 sections...each needs 4 leads soldered at each end...32 solder-points total, I guess...but the critical thing is the points are TINY and really close together.  Take a look at that link to see what I mean.

And "beer provided" is sort of a given.

I am not a member but am willing to help. I've done these LED strips before. Do they need to be waterproof when done?
Any evening (except Thursday) or sometime on Saturday would work for me.

Any chance there'll be someone to provide access to the Space on Wed evening?  Paul (above) has offered.  Also, you're welcome.  What's your beverage of choice?

A pizza and beer/cider soldering party would be fun...  I'd be up for that, or for being paid.

When would you like to do this?

Wednesday evening was suggested cuz it's the only evening this week that the cab's available (that's where the LEDs are).  If that doesn't work, next week's much more open.

Sure, I can come wednesday after about 8:30pm.

Cool.  So I'll arrive (as early as I'm sure there'll be somebody there to open the door).  Is there currently room inside the big roll-up door for me to pull the van inside?

And the big question, still unanswered.  I DON'T DRINK...so have no method whereby to figure out what kind of beverage is best or appropriate for this...Budweiser?  Generic?  Something more esoteric?  Also, just go to the grocery store or go elsewhere for better selection?

I'll wait to order pizza 'til people start showing up.  I don't know 'bout anyone else, but I much prefer HOT pizza.

Who-all's showing up?  Just so I can get a head-count on how much booze/pizza to budget for/purchase?

Spec's Wine & Fine Foods perhaps?  Somewhere else?

I won't have more than a beer or two, and a slice or two of pizza. Nothing too fancy. Maybe Fat Tire or Firemans 4?

I'll go along with what David said: a beer or two and a couple slices of pizza (prefer no veggies) would be great. I can be there around 8:30pm or earlier if someone is there to escort/let us in.

Scott - can you bring a hot glue gun and cable ties (unless there are some shareable in the space.)

and of course, after all that, I just got a call from an appointment that pre-empts my participation.  Can we schedule for mon/tues/wed of next week?  whichever day works best for everyone.

On a side note, does this beer (had just bought it) need to remain refrigerated in the interim?

Monday is Memorial Day, but I should be able to make Mon-Wed evenings next week.
If the beer is already cold, it should be kept that way.

So, with what little time I had this evening (and some much appreciated help from a couple of members), I got the LEDs unmounted tonight.  That means one less (really nast dirty) step to gettin 'r fixed up.

David, Michelle, Paul (and anyone else that decides to participate)...decide between you which day next week works for you guys (mon/tues/wed) & I'll be there with bells on (or at least with armloads of beer & pizza).

Yeah, I can come to the space after work on Wednesday.  Also, I'm not a fan of beer, I drink soda or Hard Cider.  So don't worry about me.

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it until 9:15 or so. Hopefully I won't miss all the fun (or at least all the beer ;)

It sound like he'll be there between 20:00 and 21:00. I'm already at the space right now but will be going out for some food in a little bit. I'll be back by 19:00 so I'll be able to let people in.

Especially David cuz...dude...you have magic hands when it comes to soldering!  That was amazing to watch.
