SQL DBA
Contract-to-hire position
Location: Franklin, TN
Salary for full-time hire: up to $95K/yr, depending on experience

Teknetex Inc is currently assisting an aggressively growing healthcare
IT company in finding an experienced SQL DBA looking for long term
growth. This professional will perform all aspects of database
administration including software evaluations, logical database design
and implementation, structured testing of database designs,
applications, and technology platforms, security administration,
backup and recovery, performance tuning and SQL optimization, research
and evaluation of new tools and techniques, development of policies,
standards and procedures related to the database environment as well
as providing support to ICT on servers, SAN, RAID devices, I/O
subsystems, capacity planning, hardware evaluation, database
installation, and physical database design.

Summary Functions:
• Provide 24X7 support and maintenance for several Microsoft SQL
Server databases running on a number of instances.
• Develop, install, and maintain DTS/SSIS packages for the importing,
exporting, and transmission of data.
• Responsibility for ensuring that daily and nightly SQL Server jobs
run accurately and to completion.
• Monitors transaction activity, system utilization or load levels.
Prepares and or reviews status, progress and performance reports.
• Responsible for overall administration, performance tuning, backup/
recovery.
• Perform SQL database upgrades as needed.
• Perform general database related troubleshooting for development
teams.
• Create and execute data manipulation commands for special data
correction situations.
• Utilize data modeling knowledge to provide designs that will meet
performance and scalability requirements.
• Provide short and long-term vision for the overall data model and
physical design. Consider existing database layout and implementation
stages to achieve the long-term vision.
• Evaluate and define how the data model interacts with external data
sources such as the data warehouse, feeds and third-party packaged
solutions.
• Work within the PED/ICT team to follow the full lifecycle
development process working with project management, development and
technical operations.
• Data Warehouse systems development, quality assurance, and
implementation support, providing for support data management
strategies, including data integration, partitioning, archiving and
replication.
• Suggest and lead the definition and implementation of process
improvements within the organization related to efficient data
warehousing.
• Mentor other members of the team on data warehouse design skills.
• Share responsibility for data integrity with the applications
development staff.
• Maintain effective working relationships with internal customers and
external contacts.
• Provide continuous feedback via reporting and analysis to management
and recommend solutions to improve systems and business process
effectiveness.

Qualifications:
• This position may require a degree and 5+ years experience with a
strong history in areas of Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 such as
Transact-SQL, replication, DTS/SSIS packages, SQL Agent jobs, and SQL
Reporting Services.
• 3+ years of experience that includes ETL, logical/physical data
modeling, and Data Warehousing.
• Other software the applicant should be familiar with include, Visual
Studio .NET, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, and Excel), Windows
Operating Systems, Windows Server Applications (IIS, Cluster
Administrator, Terminal Services, Active Directory), Miscellaneous
Support Tools (Crystal Reports, WinZip, FTP).
• Solid understanding of RDBMS principles and practices in a complex
client/server, distributed computing environment.
• Experience with configuring, implementing and supporting high
availability solutions with SQL Server including SQL Clustering/
Replication/Log Shipping.
• Knowledge related to computer hardware (servers, networks, SAN, RAID
devices, I/O subsystems).
• Demonstrated experience in project management, requirements
gathering, and business process modeling.
• Possess excellent communication and organizational skills and be
able to work under minimal supervision.
