space including the 5,000 seat Atlanta Civic Center (for
our Costume Contest) in preparation for NASFiC / Dragon*Con
'95.
Our host hotel, the downtown Atlanta Hilton and Towers is ranked
as one of the top convention facilities in the US (you may remember
it from Confederation in '86). Our overflow hotels include the
downtown Ramada Inn, located one block away from the Hilton, and
the Westin Peachtree Plaza, Days Inn, Clarion Hotel, and the Inn
at the Peachtrees, just two blocks away from the Hilton. All
gaming events, except for live role-play and our computer gaming
room, will be held at the Westin Peachtree Plaza.
Room rates begin at the flat rate (single through quad) of under
$75 per night. Many of our hotels offer free parking.

DISCOUNT TRAVEL
If travelling by air, our convention hotels are easily
accessible from Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport
via taxicab (approximately $22), Atlanta Airport Shuttle Service
(currently $14 for a round trip), or the MARTA Rapid Rail
System (currently $1.25; exit at Peachtree Center Station).
Amtrak's long-distance CRESCENT travels
to/from New York daily with overnight sleeper service, and to/from
New Orleans by day thrice weekly. Amtrak's Brookwood
Station is in midtown, a few blocks north of MARTA's Arts Center
station. Take the subway south from there and exit at Peachtree
Center Station.
If traveling by Greyhound, the downtown bus terminal is a half-
block walk from the Westin, three blocks west of the Ramada and
about 3 and a half blocks west-southwest of the Hilton.
Our official travel agency is World Travel Partners; they can
guarantee you the lowest rates in getting to Atlanta.
Call them at at 1-800-545-3210 and ask for the NASFiC /
Dragon*Con '95 Travel Coordinator.
GUEST OF HONOR BANQUET / HARLAN ELLISON TRIBUTE
Join the NASFiC / Dragon*Con '95 Guests of Honor in a Friday
evening dinner with all the fixings. LOCUS Magazine's Annual
Science Fiction Awards and the Georgia Fandom Award will also be
presented at this function. Banquet Tickets may be reserved
on the membership form below.
DEALER'S ROOM
NASFiC / Dragon*Con '95 offers a grand assortment of hardbound and
paperback books, original crafts, medieval arms and artifacts,
posters, models, Silver and Golden Age comics and pulps, games,
Japanese animation merchandise, and more.
EXHIBITOR'S HALL
This year we'll be giving our exhibitors a separate hall with a taller
ceiling to accomodate their displays. You'll be able to talk directly
with the publishers and manufacturers of your favorites.
ART SHOW AND PRINT SHOP
The NASFiC / Dragon*Con '95 Art Show will feature some of the best
professional and amateur Science Fiction, Fantasy, Gaming, and
Comic artists in the U.S. A fee of $25 per 4x4 foot pegboard panel
will be assessed for Art Show space. Table space for three-
dimensional work is $15 per 1/2 table. A 5% commission will be
charged on Art Show sales. No hanging fee is charged for the Print
Shop; a 20% commission will be charged for Print Shop sales. A
limited number of Art Show Dealer Tables are available for purchase
at $75 each (limit 1 per artist). Membership is not included in
Panel or Table prices.
For additional info, write to our Art Show and Print Shop
Director, Roseanne Stutts, at 2322 Creekview Drive, Martinez,
Georgia 30907. Include an SASE.
ROOM PARTIES
A great tradition at almost any convention! We're making it easy
for you to host open parties for your club, convention, group or
bid on our three party floors. Just request a party floor
assignment when you make your reservation. We also have well-
separated quiet floors if you'd rather sleep at night (sleep at a
convention? Ahh, the novelty!); just request a quiet floor when
you call for your reservation.
CONCERTS AND ALL-NIGHT DANCES AND FILKING
Our all-night dances begin Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings
at the stroke of midnight in our Grand Ballroom and continue until
6 am, so you vampires can boogie until the sun comes up! We'll
also feature live concerts on at least two nights during the
convention, and we are negotiating with both regional and
national acts. Traditional convention filk singing will take place
on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, late-night. Filking
will begin at 11 p.m. and continue 'til the light of day or when
the maids show up.
ADVERTISING
Advertising slots are also available for our souvenir Programme Book,
with a UV-laminated full color cover (as is now traditional). Please
write for rates.

I throw this question out to a public vote in cyberspace.
So let us ALL know where you are going and why. Please post a
follow-up in the newsgroup "ga.general" rather than reply privately
to me. Everyone should have access to the raw data and judge it for
themselves and I'm more interested in the answers than in dealing in
promotional bias.

I personally am going to Dragon Con for
(1) I just moved to Atlanta a month ago and I have no idea where this resort thing is.
(2) I hadn't heard of the first con.
(3) All my friends are going to Dragon Con.
(4) Harlan Ellison is going to be at Dragon Con.
(5) Anything with "Opus" in its name can't be THAT good.

90 miles southwest. Not "just outside Atlanta," although friends say
they can do it in 70 min. They'll have to; they're trying to work on
both conventions' staffs, gods-bless-'em.
>(2) I hadn't heard of the first con.

For me, that's quite a number of friends. 4 or 5 rooms' worth, with
the usual overcrowding of rooms at conventions. :)
>(4) Harlan Ellison is going to be at Dragon Con.
Beware -- I'm no slouch and from talking to him, I KNOW he could have
taken me apart without blinking. An incisive mind and a razor-sharp
wit. :)
Latest guest additions: Christopher ("Highlander") Lambert, John
Saul, Terry Brooks, Glenn Danzig, Tony "Candyman" Todd, Mark Shepherd,
Josepha Sherman, astronaut Ed Gibson (Skylab project), and the
proverbial "many more."

I think I will skip it then. I have ENOUGH trouble getting around Atlanta!

I know of 6 people that are coming up from Little Rock, AR to the Con.
There may be more. Do you think it would be worth my time to go in on
room? I like just north of the top of 285.

Well, I don't plan on engaging him in a war of wits. :) He has just
been my favorite author for about 15 years now and I would be a fool
to pass up the opportunity to meet him. Do you think this is possbile?
I've never been to a major con so I don't know how accessible the
guests of honor are...
Since you appear to have an offical connection to the Con, maybe you
can tell me what the best way to check on my pre-registration would
be. I send in the form and check about 2 weeks ago, should I worry
about calling to see if it has been processed?
