Then why can you nor any one else prove it to be so?
Or to ease your irrational fear of answering questions I will
phrase such as follows.
I object to your claim that the bible is representative of objective
reality when such can not be established.
I consider the relevance of such a

Observer
Such as is represented in the so called "bible" is irrational,
superstitious and meaningless. One can scarcely reduce the value of
that which has little or none.

(Max Planck, 1920) A new scientific truth does not triumph by
convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather
because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up
that is familiar with it.

Observer
Such provides great benefit to human kind.
It is in such a light that I ponder yours and that of others equally
sportive of the virtual evils and ignorance of a long dead ,and
violent past which has so negativity impacted the advancement , of
humanity from near infinite ignorance, to ever decreasing conditions
thereof.

Or You simply have not the intellectual acumen to differentiate
hideous superstitious filth from what is useful , informative and in
service to truly sentient creatures.
I personally prefer Thea's Christian dedication to Brock's because at least
Thea tries real hard to say why she rejected the church in favor of pure
bible teaching. She clearly believe what she learns for that book like I
follow what Jean -Paul Sartre said that man make up Gods so they have a
being to follow.

Yes, I hear what you are saying. I have noticed that
Thea does consider what you say, although she comes
back with her bible passages. Brock just sprouts
doctrinal platitudes. Thea tries to communicate, but
Brock does not. There's a difference for sure.

Being burned at a stake is not committing suicide.
And, there were many who were eaten by wild animals in

Ian, you wondered about "stories of recent Christian martyrs". According to this <http://bit.ly/hHsNem> "45.5 million of the estimated 70 million Christians who have died for Christ did so in the last century." .

Thea you mentioned "there were many who were eaten by wild animals in the Roman Coliseum" and that is true. More recently, last week,16 people were shot in Nigeria while in Church as reported here <http://bit.ly/JHwSDC>. There are places in the world today where going to Church can mean death.

Alan you are getting emotional for no good reason.
One needs to look at war for what it is.
War is when our leaders send our people in the armed
forces out to do a job. People who join the armed
forces know that on the balance of probability that
they will be sent into a combat zone sometime in
their "career" because that's what they do. They
are also placed in Peace Keeping situations.
I disagree with war and would much prefer the old
method of picking one person to fight the war on
all our behalf's. The person I would pick would be
the politician who suggested war in the first place
in order to make the armament industry rich.

"Why have you forsaken me" seems to give the impression that he didn't
have a clue why God wasn't rescuing him. If so, he suffered for the
same reason that all people crucified by the Romans suffered, the
reason being that the Romans gave them no choice to not suffer.
Ian, sometimes "war is an abomination". War is ugly, but not the ugliest thing.
*“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” -John Stuart Mill*
The American revolution was like any other revolution, it was that
one ideology rose up against another in the same country. Therefore
often brother against brother. War is when troops are sent to fight outside
their own borders against a believe foe.

LL. It depends on whether you could have avoided it, even by lying.
Lying is much less of a sin than suicide, and you'd live long enough
to repent and be forgiven. There is a tremendpus amount of foolish
pride in allowing yourself to be killed because you won't do the one
thing you could to save yourself. Pride is a deadly sin. I suppose
you would have told the Nazis where Jews were hiding in order to avoid
telling a lie.
