As you posted, I do not have a group. Unfortunately I missed class on
Wednesday and was unable to talk with you.

What would you like to me to do?

I am sure you know what you should have done. If you chose to wait till the last min, on a weekend, when I have no access to other students, there is not much I can do for you.

Monday find a partner. If no is available, then you will have to do the project by yourself. I know that there are people without groups and they will show up eventually and complain that they have no groups. Since the group policy was announced 2 weeks back, the responsibility has to bear on those who did not care (as well as did not ask me for help, in time).

I understand I was mistaken in not making a group and agree that I
bear that responsibility.

However I must make it clear that I was able to complete the project
by myself and write test drivers within the first few days of the
project announcement without a partner. By that point it seemed unfair
for me to have a partner.

If we were using blackboard I would have access to other students
email addresses so that I could contact those who do not have partners
and see if they would like to be my partner.

Since you are the class professor, I assume you have access to those
email addresses or even their last names. Given that information I can
contact these people over the weekend and make a group.

Unfair? Yes, the project can be done quite easily by 1 person. However the requirement is to have a partner. It is an easy project. Collaborative work is one of the many reasons.

Blackboard -- yes you have access to Blackboard.

I do not transmit names/email addresses without permission. We (faculty) are under complex rules of privacy maintenance and I choose to err on the conservative side. People who do not have partners have made a choice and I have requested them (and you) to contact me, but they/you did not make contact in any timely fashion. Responsibility is yours. If you need to debate this issue we can keep this up. I am game.

PS: Having, finding and maintaining a partner is still your responsibility. I am going on record (public forum) that not following requirements will result in less points.

I don't have a partner yet either. Actually, at this point I had been
thinking that it was looking like I was the odd one out. (To the
teacher: What is going to happen with the last guy anyway? Is there
a group of 3?)

I'd been busy with some stuff for another class and didn't get to look
at the project until recently. I just installed a virtual copy of
Ubuntu in VirtualBox the other day but I don't really know where to go
from there for programming (or at least testing code) within that
environment. (Download and install a Linux version of whichever
program on there, I'm assuming? Or should there be something pre-
installed that I could use?) I started throwing together a bit of
code the other day as well, and I was going to finish that up tomorrow
with or without a partner. (At this point that may just be for my own
practice if we can partner up since you say you've got it all done
already. (I'll warn you up front that I started with Java and I'm
still a little uncomfortable with C. I'll be reviewing things and
leaning on any reference material I can find as I write code.))
