Subject: Nov. 5th Bay Area Star Party: Will You Be Participating?

Dear Astronomy Colleague:

Between October 29 and November 6, a group of
science institutions, headed by the University of California,
San Francisco, are planning to put on a ten-day Bay Area
Science Festival.  The attached sheet has a summary
of what is planned and contact information.

On the evening of Saturday, Nov. 5th, we are planning a
major star party and astronomy evening -- with observatories
and telescopes available to the public and open houses in
many astronomical and public settings.  Below is a list of those
institutions and clubs who have indicated that they intend to
participate.

We wondered if your institution or club would like to join in. If so,
may I ask you to email me with a short description of what
facility or group you are involved with, and what you might do
on that Saturday night?  We encourage open public observing
and -- at your option -- an astronomy talk or hands-on activity
on the same night.

Other ways of participating in the festival (including the three
day long weekend Expo's -- one at AT&T Park in San Francisco)
are described in the attached sheet.

Thanks,
Andy Fraknoi
