A simplate that works?

Can anyone please upload some files (that illustrate how simplates
work) that work? I've been trying to get simplates working on my aspen
for a week now and the python code just keeps showing up in the web
page.

Another thing. How do i restrict local directory access? the web page
I get when i open my url is the index.html file. But if i know the
directory structure, I can easily access the local directory and all
its files where the server is running??

My index.html page has a username and password form. This needs to be
matched against a list of allowed users and only then must the local
directory be accessible. How do I do this? Please anyone, HELP!
