What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select something with one of the selection tools
2. Drag selection around
3. Resizing handles leave trails when they move outside of the canvas
extents.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Don't expect to see visual artifacts while dragging. As it is, resizing
handles leave trails when they move outside of the canvas extents. True,
they go away after releasing the selection, but they are distracting.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Built from source on Feb 28/2012 on Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit.

This still happens during the behavior described in issue 299, although in
that case they are leaving trails inside the canvas itself. I didn't think
to drag the handles outside of it.
