Welcome

Hi everyone, and welcome to our Arts in Bushwick google group! What is this group for? This group is for anyone involved with Bushwick Open Studios '09 planning & operations. It is here to keep the operations open and transparent, and to encourage participation by making information about the production readily available to anyone who wishes to use it.I am helping to plan BOS, when should I use this group? Were you about to send an email to some Arts in Bushwick folks regarding some aspect of BOS '09? Well, probably that email belongs here, as a discussion topic! That way, anyone who joins in later can read previously discussed items and be informed about whats happening, in all aspects of the festival planning. Also, before you start a new discussion, check to see if there is a related topic that you can contribute to! Think of it as an open meeting, just online!I am heading up a subcomittee for BOS, but my people are not members of this group. How do I add them? This group is open to the public, therefore anyone can join it just by going to http://groups.google.com/group/artsinbushwickAsk your subcomittee to sign themselves up, or, if you'd like to add them directly email one of the group managers (currently Todd, Laura & Laura) and the group manager can add those people. The best way is just to ask people to sign up themselves. I want to be involved with BOS productions, but I don't want to get emails from this group every two seconds! How can I make the emails stop without unsubscribing?Just click on the side link to Edit my Membership and change your email notification settings.I'm new here, whats BOS '09? Who is Arts in Bushwick, and what do they have to do with all this?BOS '09 is the Bushwick Open Studios & Arts Festival, a three day artist open studios / art walk / performance / music / theater / block party festival that takes place annually in the Bushwick community. Arts in Bushwick is the all-volunteer umbrella organization that has been organizing BOS since 2007. Arts in Bushwick also produces 2 other smaller festivals in the fall and spring (BETA spaces, a smaller art walk type event particularly for art in alternative spaces, and the Bushwick SITE performance festival). If you volunteer any of your time to help produce an Arts in Bushwick event, you are totally a member of Arts in Bushwick! What is BOS is really the trickier question... the core of the BOS festival is the artist open studios (hundreds of them!), and traditionally lots of other performance and community fun events have been organized around the three days to provide festival goers with plenty to see and do and celebrate. In the past, we've had an Art Parade, a Cabaret, a music festival, tons of group art shows, guided tours... the list goes on and on. Poke around this group, people discussions should give you a pretty good idea whats in store for BOS '09. The events that take place during BOS are whatever ideas and events Arts in Bushwick volunteers want to see happen, and are all totally self organized! So really, BOS '09 is whatever you want it to be. Just some notes: the purpose of this group is NOT to advertise personal events, and it is also NOT a good way to contact the Arts in Bushwick membership regarding anything other than B0S '09 productions. This group is moderated, and any messages not directly relating to festival productions will be removed. If you have an announcement to make to the Bushwick artist community, perhaps it is something that we can put on our AIB email blast (email laurab [at] artsinbushwick.org about appropriate things for the e-blasts) As a courtesy, please do not put other people's full email addresses in the content of your posts. Google groups does not guard against spambots. If you need to include them, spell them out like: name [at] server.com Also, keep in mind that your posts will be emailed to everyone subscribed to the group (and be publicly visible on the web), so try to keep it to the point and don't include any privacy sensitive information. Its up to you to make that judgement, as we will not be moderating the content of posts (unless they clearly don't have anything to do with AIB productions).
