Dear Friend
Banglar Manabadhikar Suraksha Mancha (MASUM) is an initiation of some human rights defenders in camaraderie. MASUM from its inception is struggling for protection, set up and extension of rights of the citizen of India.
MASUM started its journey with addressing custodial torture and its subsequent ramification, further extended its activities to address other forms of human rights violations. MASUM works in close association with domestic Human Rights Institutions, international human rights bodies like Amnesty International, World Organisation against Torture (OMCT), Human rights Watch (HRW), Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) and United Nations agencies. MASUM is also holding a programme on the aegis of United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture (UNVFVT) for medical, social and psychological benefits for victims of torture.
This year we intended to observe ‘anti torture day’ by holding a two day residential course on fact findings of torture and related legalities. We have designed the course as follows:-
Day I –Definition of “Torture” and Basics of credible fact finding
Day II – Domestic laws related to torture and United Nations instruments on torture
A course fee of Rs. 1000/- has been fixed this include your stay and food for two days with stationeries and course material. Leading protagonists against practice of torture and legal experts will conduct the course. At the end of the course certificate will be issued to all the participants.
