Subject: SPOTLIGHT : Jeremiah Palecek's Nerdkore Paintings (Check out this PROJECT)
Hi all,

This week's spotlighted blog is not that of a Member of Art Blog
Review but I liked Jeremiah Palecek's project so much that I wanted to
share it with you all.

Blog projects have a specific focus, broadly speaking it could be
argued that all blogs have a project focus, whether it is that you
post images of your paintings or post your poetry. However some
projects have a narrower focus. A well defined project can give your
blog an edge, making it stand out from the crowd. You can carve out a
niche for yourself with a good, precisely focused blog project.

Sometimes a blog can have a project within it's broader concept or
focus, another name for this might be a "gimmick". A quiz or other
competition, daily or weekly feature articles or a "post of the day"
that provides links to the blog posts of your readers - all of these
are examples of a project within a project. All this might sound
really obvious but defining your blog project can cause you to ask
yourself a number of very important questions, for one: "Who are my
readers?".

Jeremiah Palecek owns a blog that he uses to publish his paintings.
Nothing new there, but he has added an element which makes his blog a
little different. Jeremiah's archives go back to May 2005 and he also
has an Etsy store where he sells original artworks created by himself
and his girlfriend, Jana: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5196820.

Jeremiah began publishing on a simple blogspot blog: http://jeremiahpalecek.blogspot.com.
Visitors to his original blog are today redirected to his new address
at: http://nerdkore.com. Still keeping it simple at his new blog, he
says: "Hi I'm Jeremiah Palecek and I like to paint".

SO WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT JEREMIAH"S PAINTING BLOG?

After this introduction however Jeremiah spices things up a bit - by
interacting with his readers. Blogs are renown for their facilitation
of reader/author interaction but it is not always easy to get that
interaction going. Jeremiah does so by asking his readers a question:
"Have an idea?"

And if Jeremiah's readers do 'have an idea' they can tell him all
about it - via a functional "one click" form: http://nerdarts.com/suggest/nerdkore.php

Have an idea?
Let me know, and I'll paint it!

"Hey all. I'm starting a new project where people tell me what to
paint. That's it. Pretty simple really. In the "ideas" box below write
in what you want me to paint. I will then mash up your ideas with a
few other people. I'm planning on doing a painting a day for the month
of november which will all be based off of what you all tell me to
paint. It can be stupid, it can be pornographic, it can be nerdy,
personal, whatever. Your ideas are your own, but just know that with
every painting I post on my blog I would like to also provide a link
to the profiles of the people who gave me the ideas:) The idea is not
only for your ideas to go through the filter of my brain and onto
canvas, but also provide a link to your site so viewers can also see
where the idea came from. To see the first paintings in the series go
to http://nerdkore.com."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------------------

The really nice thing about Jeremiah's project is that the finished
artwork is a kind of collaboration (or dialogue) between the blog
author and his readership. I reckon it's a ripper project!

Check it out!
