BTW, why such old version?
Try also the TDM compilers, which will give you a new GCC:
http://tdm-gcc.tdragon.net/

NOTE: if you install the TDM/Dragon mingw distribution you will need to
rebuild Qt4. This should work, but my experience tells me differently.
