OK, Got it, finally.
For anyone else who is stuck, here is what worked for me. I basically
had to install the drivers manually and reboot a couple of times:
- Download the USB drivers for Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit,
depending on your computer) from the Gwiz website:
http://www.gwiz-partners.com/html/drivers.html
- Unzip the drivers into a folder.
- Power on the GWiz.
- Connect the USB adapter to the Gwiz
- Connect the USB adapter to the PC.
- Go to the Windows Device Manager (Right-click on Computer, Click
Properties, Click Device Manager.
- Right-click on "Other Devices->USB Adapter.
- Select "Update Driver Software.
- Select "Browse My Computer for Driver Software"
- Click "Browse", point it to the directory where you unzipped the
drivers, make sure "Include Subfolders" is checked, and click "Next"
- Give it a while to do its thing.
- Reboot.
- Repeat as necessary.
- Eventually "Gwiz USB Adapter (COMx)" showed up in the Device Manager
under "Ports (COM and LPT)".
- Launch the FlightView software.
- In FlightView, under Edit->Set Port, select the correct COMx that
was listed in the Device Manager.
- In FlightView, click File->Connect.
Hope this helps.
