Hi,

I have two quick questions.

I was wondering the status of Issue 485 (http://code.google.com/p/archivematica/issues/detail?id=485).  I have been test process some digital collections and have recently run into this same issue of Prepare AIP failing.  Here is the error message I received:
Bagit failures resulting in error messages such as "An error occurred. Check the /usr/share/bagit/logs/bag-20110317-12:30:49.log for more details" are not producing logs.
I went up into the /tmp/logs directory and found that I received the same error message that is recorded in this issue number.  I attached what one of the log files.

The tests I have run make me think that the error might be a file size problem.  Both packages that I have run that return this bagit error message are 2 GB or larger (which then get doubled in the bagit package, as was noted in this issue record).  I removed items from one of the package to get it below 1 GB and ran it through Archivematica just fine with no errors returned.

My other question is concerning the accept/reject steps at various stages of the ingest process.  Are there any plans to remove these steps and automate the the entire process?

Thanks for your time.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your error report. We have passed the issue onto a Bagit
developer, who is tesing the SIP that failed for us. Hpefully there
will be a fix in the next Bagit release, but that might not be in time
for Archivematica 0.7.1, due to be released next month.

Re the Approval steps - those are configurable. If you wanted to you
could remove them all and have everything run through from ingest to
access without interruption: go to the relevant config files in /etc/
archivematica/MCPServer/mcpModulesConfig and change
<requiresUserApproval> from Yes to No. If you have any problems with
this please let us know.

I don't think removing all appraisal steps is error free. See:
Issue 663: Error on sanitize submission documentation with lock
files.
http://code.google.com/p/archivematica/issues/detail?id=663

I believe the approve Normalization step is required to avoid that
problem.
