Dear friends!

Date: Monday, Feb 28
Time: 18.30
Location: American Councils Office (vul. Esplanadna, 20, 6th floor)

Some of you have heard about a program called European Voluntary
Service. It is a fully-financed program of the European Commission
that lets you spend 6-12 months abroad working in a social project.
The program covers your expenses for travel to and from the country of
your service to 90%. Everything else, including visa, accommodation,
food, language support, personal supervisor and mentor, transportation
to work, and sufficient pocket money are covered 100%.

Unfortunately, the process of applying is quite complicated.
Therefore, this Monday we will have a meeting with an outstanding FLEX
alumna of ’02-03 Iryna Lysenko.

In 2008 she founded the Youth NGO Iskra in Mykolaiv, an organisation
that focuses on intercultural and interreligious dialogue and promotes
volunteering on local and international levels. Iskra runs civic
education & leadership summer camps and a long-term orphanage program
in Ukraine, co-organises international youth exchanges in Europe and
acts as a Sending Organisation for European Voluntary Service (EVS),
the only organisation of this kind in the Southern Ukraine helping
young people to spend a year volunteering abroad on a program funded
by the European Commission.

She will share with us information on how to apply for the program and
what was her own experience in it.
See you there!
