Hi all --

Passing along what appears to be a great career opportunity.

Do you know what were among Mark Twain's last spoken words while he lay dying? My mother (an avid "Twainiac") read that Twain asked his daughter Clara about the condition of his momma cat who was delivering kittens.  Mark Twain loved cats.  He once asked a neighbor if he could "rent" some cats while visiting in the area; he missed his own so much.  He said:

"I simply can¹t resist a cat, particularly a purring one. They are the cleanest, cunningest, and most intelligent things I know, outside of the girl you love, of course."

³If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.²

Twain was born during a visit by Halley's Comet, and he predicted that he would "go out with it," too.  He died the day following the comet's subsequent return and certainly road it over a special rainbow bridge to where there are always plenty of cats waiting for love!

"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it." ~~ Mark Twain

No, Twain's home, a National Historic Landmark, is not an animal shelter, or an animal-rights organization;  but I can't imagine being anyplace where one could be surrounded with more joy and brainiac delights!  As stated in the email below, <Twain wrote his most important works during the years he lived there, including Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.>
Judy.
