Here is my plea for two dogs I found yesterday while visiting my family in New Orleans!
Please forward to anyone you might know in the Louisiana area who may be able to help.  Unfortunately, I do not have the time to go through petfinder for the area and contact local Beagle/Doxi rescuers here in New Orleans as I am leaving to go back to LA tomorrow.

Happy New Year, Guys :)

Hello Friends
I was traveling to Avery Island (Louisiana) yesterday with my family and we spotted and rescued these two little dogs on the side of a busy highway.  There was a third who wasn't so lucky.  I rescue animals in California, but have little to no contacts here and really need your help.

Avery is a tri-colored Beagle approximately 15 pounds and two years old.

Pepper, who we think is her pup, is between 6 months and a year.  She is about 10 pounds and looks like a Doxie/Beagle mix.  Both are females.  Pepper was not faring well with the stress and the elements and it looked like she has Demodectic mange (NOT Contagious and easily treatable)  I can elaborate on this type of mange if you are interested.

Here's the "kicker"!  We had to bring them to a shelter as I had no where to put them.  THE SHELTER IN NEW IBERIA, LOUISIANA (approx 2 hours from New Orleans),  DOES NOT HAVE A VETERINARIAN ON STAFF, NOR A VET TECH!  It's literally a shelter.  They are at least warm, watered, fed and now safe.  The hold time is 5 days, then they can be put up for adoption or euthanized in order to create space for arriving animals.

Here's how you can help: please forward to anyone and everyone you know in town.
