native commerical deployments?

Has anyone announced plans to provide native commercial deployment of
AppScale? That is, you can sign up and just use it like App Engine
without rolling your own with Amazon Web Services, where for example
you have to handle your own backup, etc.

Sorry for the delay.

I don't know of any deployments as you describe yet. Its completely
open though (BSD license) so its possible. We have heard rumors of
such
pursuits using AppScale (e.g. a person in Australia using it as part
of his hosting
service). We also have multiple companies interesting in supporting
our efforts
(through research grants/gifts). But that is the extent of it as far
as I know. Its really
easy to setup and deploy though. If there are particular services
you
are interested in (backup), let us know.

We plan to have EC2/Eucalyptus persistence support in an upcoming
release.
A backup service based on this would be straight forward following
this.
