The UCSB Computer Science Lab for Research on Adaptive Compilation
Environments (the RACELab) is pleased to announce its recent release of
AppScale version 1.1!
AppScale is an open-source implementation of the Google App Engine (GAE)
API. AppScale enables execution of GAE applications on any cluster
system. In particular, AppScale executes over Eucalyptus, EC2, as well
as over virtualized and non-virtualized cluster resources,
automatically.
AppScale is a framework with which researchers and engineers can
implement and investigate, among other things, new cloud computing
services, languages, datastores, optimizations, application and system
behavior, and the interoperation of different cloud computing layers
using real GAE applications.
Moreover, GAE developers can use AppScale to execute, test, debug,
scale,
and monitor their GAE applications in a distributed environment (i.e.
their own cluster) prior to uploading their applications to Google's
infrastructure.
