My HDTV has 2 HDMI inputs and I'm using them for 1) cable TV and 2) blu-ray
player. I connected the Apple TV using components cables and sound via the
digital audio connection. It works perfectly with a very crisp clear
picture. Actually you can't really tell the difference between the HDMI and
the component connections. Definitely go with the component connection!

My projector has a HD15 (VGA) connector which also handles component
video. I wanted to buy an Apple TV which in addition to HDMI has
component RCA connectors, but nobody I talked to could give me a
straight answer as to how to connect it for the best signal - some
said use a HDMI to DVI adapter and then DVI to VGA (won't work) others

We have had significant problems updating two of our three ATVs.
One took 2 goes to go thru and the other 5 attempts.
There are a lot of reports of problems on the Apple Discussion groups.

I got a clearance 160 GB Seagate Momentus 5400.3 hard drive last week
at Best Buy.
I am serious about replacing the existing 40 GB drive in my TV.
I want to know if anyone has done this yet & if so how it went.
I am pretty sure I need an Intel Mac to do this, as it uses the GUID
drive identifier.

Its Out, I downloaded the update last night (02/12) and its GREAT!!
The initial display allows is a basic 2 column page, select the item in the
left column, select specifics in the right column and click that to drill in
deeper (to the old interface)
One REAL nice feature is you can set your AppleTV to Airtunes mode - I did

Hi Marcus,
Most of the on-line magazines and blogs are saying that we should expect the
update on January 29th or thereabouts. Steve Jobs said "in two weeks" in his
keynote address, and that would put it at the end of the month. Hey, I'm
anxious, too. :-)

Does anyone have the "inside scoop" as to when this new update is
available?
I was so disappointed after being gone for 4 days & waiting to rush
home to update my TV.
Oops, it isn't ready.
I updated my iPod Classic to version 1.1 the other day in order to
prep for the itunes movie rentals.

Humm, interesting question, it'll be nearly a year old by then so I
can see that it might be due a revision.
But not sure what that would be though as there is already a 160Gb
model and that's about the largest drive you are going to get.
I'd have thought most other changes could be done via software updates.

I would love to get my kids Apple TV's for Christmas. My big concern
is that there will be a major revision announced at MacWorld and I
will be the last person to purchase the out of date version. Any
suggestions? Any intelligence regarding updates

Apple TV sync

I have an Apple TV from few months ago and I remember that it was
possible to have movies in the HD but at the same time to have the
Apple TV connected to my computer (Stream mode). Now, I cannot have
both options at the same time and I have to chose between Stream mode

Has there been any mention of software to use the Elgato Turbo.264 on a
Windows-based PC?
I have a couple of software-based converters now for my AppleTV, but they're
fairly slow, and since the Elgato device is USB, it seems that it could be
made to work with PCs. Well, here's hoping!

just thought I'd mention I bought one of these and even on my new
intel mac it's about twice as fast as software based encoding. I
converted a few movies and they look very good on apple TV
