ANNOUNCEMENTS - PLEASE READ
1. I have been told by various people in our group that they are not
receiving the weekly emails when they should be. I believe the reason
for this is that emails sent through the Google Group page are often
recognized as spam.
To test this, please reply to me if you receive this email so I can
verify how many people are getting the emails. Thank you for your
help!

2. Kevin and Stephanie Vance, from our group, will be formally
received into the Church on Saturday, December 12th at 12:30PM at the
Catholic Information Center (1501 K St, NW, Washington, DC 20005).
Everyone from our group is encouraged to attend this Mass to support
Kevin and Stephanie joining the Church!

BIBLE STUDY GROUP MEETING
This week, we will be discussing Genesis, Chapters 8 and 9, with Fr.
Jamie Workman. Please read the chapter selections before the meeting
and be sure to bring your Bible with you to the meeting.

The meeting will begin at 6:30PM on Sunday. We normally meet in Burke
Hall of St. Thomas More Cathedral, however due to construction in that
area we will plan on meeting at the Church’s rectory instead this
week.

Here are a list of questions and reflection points for Chapters 8 and
9:
1. The story of the flood is a very familiar story. After reading it,
are there some differences between the story written in Sacred
Scripture and what we see in films?
2. In chapters 6-9, there is a lot of rich symbolism that helps us
understand Christ's new and everlasting covenant, the Church, the
sacraments, salvation, and the value of life? What are some of these
connections?
3. After reading about the destruction of the earth, can you see mercy
in God's actions (in the flood itself)?
4. Does it seem weird that the first thing Noah does after "saving"
the animals is sacrifice one of each kind to the Lord?

*****************************************************
Our meeting is usually held at 6:30PM on Sundays following the 5:00PM
mass in the basement of St. Thomas More Cathedral (known as Burke
Hall).

For those who have not come before, we review selected Scripture
sections and discuss their meanings along with the Church’s teachings
related to the sections. Our meetings also include an Apologetics
aspect done through a study of the Bible. All questions of the faith
are encouraged, even if it does not pertain to the main topic (i.e.
why do we say God bless you after you sneeze?).

Our discussions continue outside of the weekly meeting online on our
Google group (see link below). We post information to better allow
people to build a solid foundation in knowledge of the Catholic faith
as well as inform others on upcoming events that may occur in the
area.
