BIBLE STUDY GROUP MEETING
Due to a scheduling issue, there will be no Bible study meeting this
week. However, rather than canceling our meeting altogether, we are
all encouraged to attend the Lessons and Carols service being held at
the Cathedral Sunday night at 7:30PM.
The details of the service are as follows:
Come share in the wonder and awe of this Advent season in the Kings
College tradition of music and scriptural readings anticipating the
Nativity of Our Lord. Led by the Bishop of Arlington, the Service of
Lessons and Carols is filled with candles and carols, and features
clergy, lay readers, the Cathedral Choir, Youth Choir, and Handbell
Ensemble. Dr. Larry Young will serve as guest organist. Join us in
celebrating the joy and peace of this wonderful season in the beauty
of the Cathedral.
This is a great opportunity for our group to meet for Mass and/or
dinner before the service. Our group could meet for the 5PM Mass at
the Cathedral. In addition, or perhaps alternatively, we could meet
for dinner around 6PM in the Ballston area before the service.
If anyone is interested in meeting before the service for Mass and/or
dinner, please reply to my email,
cory...@gmail.com, so we can
coordinate a group.
ADVENT MORNING OF REFLECTION
The Diocese is featuring this event for young adults as a way to
prepare for Christmas this year. Father Patrick Posey will be offering
Adoration, meditations, and Mass. There will be time for personal
prayer, hymns, and the Rosary. At least four priests will be available
for confessions and spiritual direction.
This event will be at St. James Church (905 Park Avenue) in Falls
Church from 9:30AM-12:00PM on Saturday, December 5th. Further
information can be found at

*****************************************************
Our meeting is usually held at 6:30PM on Sundays following the 5:00PM
mass in the basement of St. Thomas More Cathedral (known as Burke
Hall).
For those who have not come before, we review selected Scripture
sections and discuss their meanings along with the Church’s teachings
related to the sections. Our meetings also include an Apologetics
aspect done through a study of the Bible. All questions of the faith
are encouraged, even if it does not pertain to the main topic (i.e.
why do we say God bless you after you sneeze?).
Our discussions continue outside of the weekly meeting online on our
Google group (see link below). We post information to better allow
people to build a solid foundation in knowledge of the Catholic faith
as well as inform others on upcoming events that may occur in the
area.
