Responsibility:

  • Ensures standards for product quality, equipment and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports on operating cost within functional areas.
  • Develops and initiates the direction and necessary resources to establish leading edge safety and environmental performance objectives.
  • Leads and directs the development and deployment of key operational initiatives for “World Class Manufacturing” (factory utilization improvement, process capability enhancement, customer satisfaction, employee involvement, etc.) in support of objectives, vision and values.
  • Sets the standards, communicates vision and achieves clear and measurable expectations of performance for the operation as well as direct reports.
  • Takes the lead as agent for positive change, including raising the bar on objectives to attain and sustain “World Class Manufacturing” performance.
  • Develops a culture that leverages customer relationships/satisfaction, encourages active communication, employee engagement, and talent development.
  • Works with sales/marketing, engineering and customers to understand and meet their needs.
  • Manages equipment utilization, working with Materials Manager and Staff
  • Manages staffing of processes/equipment
  • Ensures processes, procedures, and policies are known, followed, and enforced
  • Manages process & equipment improvements
  • Develops, coordinates, and evaluates training for production personnel
  • Effectively interacts with other department managers
  • Manages continuous improvement relative to safety, quality, productivity, preventative maintenance, and material yield
  • Identifies process related issues and develops corrective action plans
  • Ensures accuracy of production data input processes
  • Controls expenditures associated with direct manufacturing costs
  • Understands manufacturing standards and variance control
  • Familiar with Business Acumen and accounting controls
  • Familiar with order fulfillment process

Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree in an engineering field, advanced degree beneficial
  • 5 years industry related and management experience
  • Leadership skills (prior supervisory experience)
  • Experience with leading and managing a diverse, non-union workforce
  • Must adept to all phases of manufacturing processes: Concept Refinement, Technology, Systems Development, Production and Deployment, and Operations and Support
  • Very strong Mechanical Aptitude
  • Lean 6 Sigma training beneficial
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly organized and maintain an organized working environment
  • Must be willing to work (or be available) on nights & weekends as required
  • Ability to complete tasks consistently and within the defined time frame
  • Able to interact with all levels of management
  • Team oriented, able to work well with others, and direct subordinates within the corporate Code of Conduct
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other MRP/ERP software desired
  • Computer literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
