Attached to this unit picture would be a BRASS SHUTOFF under the sink.   Removal of rusty galvanized nipples is simple using threaded Schedule 80 PVC or CPVC BALL VALVES with New Galvanized Nipples but I would keep ALL piping PVC OR CPVC Schedule 80  SIMILAR LENGTH NIPPLES and watch those hot water heaters as the Anode Rod will go out and form RUST.    Killing with AGENT ORANGE or DEPLETED URANIUM PARTICLES IS NOT ENOUGH....
