in Hilton Head Island, SC.
Responsibilities:
Marine Maintenance Manager
Will direct 2-4 mechanics in maintaining a passenger and ferry vessel fleet of 9 boats. Engines are primarily GM Detroits and Volvos. Diesel inboards plus some management of Yamaha outboards on smaller vessels.
Position reports to Director of Marine Transportation and is responsible for preventive maintenance, routine service, annual haul outs, emergency servicing as required and parts and materials inventory and ordering.
This position is in concert with a high-level prestigious golf and conference guest resort located on a remote island. Position will work primarily on mainland.Opportunity for advancement by taking on vehicle maintenance in the future.
Desired Requirements:
Applicant must have through knowledge of Detroit Diesel, natural and Turbo 8V plus working knowledge of Volvo and Volvo Inboard and Outboard drives. Also must have general working knowledge of other shipboard systems such as 12 volt and 110 volt electrical; genset service and maintenance; Cruise Air and Marine Air, air conditioning (reverse cycle), heads and pump out systems; basic electronics such as GPS, Radar and VHF radio plus working knowledge of fire suppression and related safety systems. Certifications and reference letters are a plus. Minimum of 3 years experience required. Degree preffered. Computer savvy a benefit.
