Come and Celebrate with us at the HumanLight/Winter Solstice Potluck Event

This is your invitation to the 2011 Solstice/HumanLight party, a joint effort by local freethought organizations, including HAGSA, AOF, and the SacFAN Meetup Group.
HumanLight provides an opportunity for freethinkers to have their own time to be festive and to celebrate reason, common values and friendship.
This year's party, like last year’s, will feature a potluck dinner, entertainment and a raffle. We’ll also be collecting food donations for two local charities (see below).
Potluck Fare: Curtis Hall has more space but fewer kitchen amenities than last year's site. Your potluck item should be already prepared. The hall does have a microwave oven for reheating your dishes. We will provide plates, bowls, cups, napkins and utensils. We have some beverages, but please bring your own favorite (no hard liquor please, we aren't insured for it).
Entertainment: Be prepared to be entertained! Andi Warren and The Mockingbirds will be performing some very special secular songs; Eddie Scott (Sacramento Area Skeptics), accompanied by his son, will sing his own skeptical song; and Roger Zabkie and Pamella Rivera will show off  their terpsichorean talents with some smooth dance moves.
Raffle: This is how we pay for the hall. Prizes include two tickets (worth $100) to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, a gift card for the Hoppy Sacramento BrewPub, and other goodies. So please participate. If you would like to donate a prize, please contact the organizers at human...@hagsa.org.
Food Charity Drive: We will also collect food items for two local charities, neither of which is associated with a church or a religious group. They are the River City Food Bank (for people) and the City of Sacramento Pet Food Bank (“Titanic’s Pantry”). This is a wonderful opportunity for the freethought community to come together and show their compassion and kindness. So please dig through your own pantry or consider purchasing something to donate. Be aware of expiration dates! You may prefer to donate via cash or check instead, for which we’ll have a jar for each charity.
Titanic’s Pantry is run by the City of Sacramento Animal Shelter. As the economy deteriorated, the animal shelter found that people had to give up their pets because they could no longer afford to feed them. The Pet Food Bank is the City’s response to this need. Both dry and canned cat and dog food, and even toys, leashes, collars, cat litter, bedding, and other pet supplies will help our furry friends in need.
Come have a great time, and help others in the process.

(A tip of AOF's hat to HAGSA for providing the text of this message, which we stole shamelessly.)
