The good thing is that you are seeking help.....just remember that take things one day at a time.....everything takes time.... it will make you stronger in the end.

I have been suffering from panic attacks for twelve years, sometimes
worse than others. I am definitly at the worse end now.

I am afraid of new meds, I can't take anything unless I have cut it
into very tiny pieces or unless I have experience with it in the past.
Right now, I am so bad with my panic attacks (two yesterday) that I
need to be back on meds.

So my regular family doctor put me on Lexapro. She knows I have taken
Celexa in the past, but to me they are two different drugs. I felt my
family doc doesn't have time for my problems, so I started to see a
psyciatrist.

I told her I am afraid of the Lexapro, told her what SSRI I would feel
"safe" with, and what does she presribe me? Lexapro, of course. She
also said, "Why do you come to me if you are afraid to take medicine,
that is what I do, prescribe medicine"

I feel so hopeless. I used to take Klonopin with my meds when I had a
different psyciatrist, and good insurance. What is going on that I am
being "forced" to take something I don't feel comfortable with? Without
a benzo at that!

Can anyone explain this to me? I can see how one would become suicidal
when the doctors refuse to help, you just don't see a light at the end
of the tunnel. I'm not saying I am suicidal (because I'm not, my whole
deal is to stay alive), but I can see how it could happen.
Thanks, and this is my first post.

hang in ther roger. i know its hell. everyone seems to have this
panic/anxiety disorder in their own unique way. no two people seem to
describr it the same. i've been suffering on and off since i was 12(im
32). ive gotten to the point to where i might want to try using meds
again. klonopin was my favorite for a while also. although, benzo's
aren't supposed to be used in the long term, they often are. my doctor
wanted to give me an ssri, and klonopin at the same time. he said once
the ssri kicked in, he would take me off klonopin. i was terrified of
the ssri, so i never took it and stayed on the klonopin instead. i
havent taken any drugs in 2 years, but know im suffering again pretty
hardcore. im thinking maybe i should try the ssri this time, i dont
know. have you had any luck with ssri's?
we have got to end this suffering !
