Subject: Valerian
Hi I'm new here,

I have a condition called mitral valve prolapse which is associated
with a syndrome in which there is a disturbance in the autonomic
nervous system, although not much research has been done on it and the
link isn't very clear. However I'm quite certain that I experience a
lot of the symptoms associated with the syndrome - i have heart
palpitations and little things cause me to become overwhelmingly
nervous. Before I was diagnosed with mvp, I remember experiencing these
symptoms and bawling my eyes out because I was so filled with panic and
I didn't know what was causing it. It is a relief to know now why I
have intense panic attacks but of course it doesn't make them go away.
I have started taking valerian which is a herbal root people take for
insomnia to calm myself down. It is working but it can also make me
quite sleepy which is not good when I have a lot of work to do! Does
anyone else suffer from this syndrome? And if so, what do you do to
cope with it?
