RTF export generates strange characters (possible unicode issue)

I got a lot of strange characters when exporting to RTF from
http://researchity.net/2010/07/08/federated-academic-identity:

"cf Critical mass and Outreach session notes from THATCamp"
"the cumulative effect ÂÂÂ"

The first example had some markup but the second didn't

Could be related to UTF? My name should be Lukeš but got printed as
Lukeš.

It's almost certainly a character-encoding issue. In our test runs we didn't have a lot of non-English content to test with. Better character support is coming very, very soon. 

In the meantime, can you tell us the character encoding settings on your WP database?

Many thanks...it looks like it's choking on   somewhere in the entity conversions. I'll add that to our issue tracker.

All my tables are encoded as utf8_general_ci.
