Linux compilation of MaxQuant and/or Andromeda

Has anyone run MaxQuant or Andromeda inside a VM or recompiled the
code with Wine libraries to allow it to be run on a Linux? The
searches are quite compute intensive, and it would make it much easier
to make use of compute clusters if Linux binaries were available.

VM I heard of some instances where people got it to work. We want to look into this more systematically soon. Wine will probably not work because it will have problems with the external calls to executables.
