Just install the Superuser app from the Market. The necessary
underlying functionality for root access (namely, a working 'su'
executable) already ship with Android-x86.
Do *NOT* install any updated 'su', even if the Superuser app insists
on it. It will install one for the ARM architecture, which will not
work on x86, and you will lose your root access
(You can prevent the update from working by choosing NOT to install
your /system as read-write during install, but you cannot modify your
system if need be this way.)
