I've been trying to get my egalax resistive 7" auto touchscreen
recognized by ICS on the eeepc image but im not getting any picture.
I'm assuming the 1024x768 resolution might be out of range for the
touchscreen since its only 800x600. Ive tried to force resolution in
the grub boot options with UVESA_MODE and vga=ask and selecting a
resolution but the resolution does not stick through the boot up...it
works for a second on the command line then swithces back to 1024x768
when GUI starts. Screen is recognized with usb...lsmod sees it as
usbtouchscreen but there is no picture in gui...only in command
prompt. please help, this touch screen is driving me CRAZY as it is
the only thing left for my carPC to be complete. thanks.

Did you use the Solder less kit? or did you buy a screen?

also, this is on an installation of the eeepc image, not live cd...if
that makes any difference. thank you

bought a screen. its just one of those chinese 7" resistive touch
screens. native reso is 800x600. i just found out my laptop
resolution is 1280x752? at least thats what the configuration says in
dev tools. im kind of at a loss right now. screen does respond to
touches but the axis is inverted as well. i think i might just trash
this screen...giving me more problems than its worth.

Ok so this is what i think you need to do, The problem is not with your screen, it is getting android to identify and register your touch controller, that can only be done using the drivers. Now to use the drivers you need to rebuild the Android x86 with the Linux drivers patched in. That should really settle your problem. Look at this pst for more help  https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!searchin/android-x86/touchkit/android-x86/8uVmCiVJboQ/zgh8jB9_3kIJ

Thats all I know right now, I'm still very new to Android and Linux. I'm building a table focused around the egalaxy touch controller, So if I get anymore help on this I'll be sure to pass it on.

Thank You
Rohan Thacker.
