Hi all,

How can I customize the contact phone number?

1) All my contacts have the following format. operator (3 dig) + local
area code (2 dig) + phone number (8 or 9 dig if use the "-"). Ex:
0416112345678 or 041611234-5678.
If I use this option and when I receive a call, the Android can't find
who call to me in the contact list.

2) How can I change the phone format number? ex: 1234-5678. When I add
the 8 digits, the phone number have this format: 123-456-78. I know
that this is the default format of locale, but I try to use the
Spanish locale and have the same English format. I my case, I want to
use the Brazil format. In the Brazil the format number is: 1234-5678
without operator and local area code, and 0xxDD1234-5678 with operator
code and local area code. xx = operator code and DD = local are code.

Thanks,

George

Tell me if you found a solution for your first problem. I'm having the
same issue with my contacts being saved in international format, and
not recognized when being called from within the country. Thanks.

I am also wondering how Android phone stores number like UA booking hotline "1-800-UNITED-1". Key in from soft keyboard is not feasible(at least according to my try) but how about a number synced from the Google Account?

Android will store it in its numerical format - the letters are just
to make it 'easy' for you to remember. So for United's booking hotline
it would be: +1-800-864833-1

I have no doubts letters are used simply for remembering.. but when a user has a phone number in letter on server and then makes a change to, say, name, and sync back to the server, he will find someone in the sync relationship makes a undesired change...
