Hi,

I am looking into audio features on Android, and curious about
whether AEC is supported on Android, and how it is achieved if it's
true. By hardware or software? which module it belongs to? supported
only for phone calls or can also be leveraged by other applicaiton
like a VoIP call app? and how to make it possible?

It may not limit to NDK APIs, but refer to the platform
capabilities. Anybody could give me some information or hints on this?
appreciate very much!

Clark

Hello Clark,

I think that this question would be better asked on andraudio:

AFAIK there's some sort of echo *suppression* in Android's VOIP implementation. If you check out the 2.3 code you should be able to find it.
As for echo cancellation, that's really platform specfic. On Qualcomm platforms I don't think there's any way to use the EC for anything other than cellular voice calls, but it might be a different story on other vendors' platforms.
