Hi,
First of all, thanks to Google team for releasing all source code.
I have some queries about android-kernel development roadmap.

1)  Is all android-kernel development discussions/patches are going to take place on this mailing list? (like lkml?)
2)  Is android-kernel going to support any other architecture(other than MSM 7XXX) in near future ?
3)  What is next to do task list for android linux-kernel? Is google going to share it with community?
4) What is the approach regarding device driver development, required to port android on different architectures?

Regards,
Rupesh

We are actively working to get stuff into the mainline kernel and that
will involve the linux arm kernel list (lakml) as well as lkml. The
intent for this list is to handle android-specific chatter that may not
be interesting/appropriate for the "main" kernel lists.

I'll try to get some roadmap/guideline stuff assembled soon -- these are
good questions that I don't have quick answers for right now.

Hi Brian

I own a HTC Kaiser, and I follow anxiously the discussion on the xda-
developers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396782&page=155
There, developers are trying to get the latest source of the kernel
+android to build and run, but so far without managing to boot
android.
It would be really useful if someone from google could participate the
discussion going on there.

Is there any plans of google to release especific code/configuration
that would enable us non-G1 owners to run android?

Regards
Emerson

Unfortunately it's difficult for us to participate on every list and
forum that exists. If there are specific questions about porting the
android platform, the android-porting list is good for that and this
list is good for specific questions about android-centric kernel issues.

Assisting in reverse-engineering projects is a bit outside of what we
can do here, but we're happy to answer questions about the android
platform when we can.

There are a number of projects out there to get android running on other
devices (some folks from TI have it booting on their Zoom boards, there
are efforts to get it going on neo freerunner, etc, etc).

but the title of this forum is:
"Discussions about Linux Kernel Development for Android and also the
MSM7K Linux port."

and you can include kaiser as a MSM7K handset I believe.
With a little bit of help we could get a huge number of devices
running android, which would be great for the platform...

Emerson
