ping DNS issue! ping returns "unknown host www.yahoo.com" but ping to IP works fine.

I am trying to get the ping working in Android running on ARM.
Ping to IP addresses works fine but when I ping to name I get
"ping: unknown host [link]"
I have already setup the default gateway:
route add default gw 192.168.0.17
Also /etc/resolv.conf is also there:
echo nameserver 4.2.2.2 > /etc/resolv.conf

Android porting for MIPS architecture

Hi
I want to port android on MIPS board. I can find android kernel patch
for ARM (2.6.25). I seems that it required changes mainly in binder.
At present i am not sure about what are the necessary changes to be
done for binder (for MIPS). Let me know about other parts of changes
in patch and kernel source for MIPS. I am very well aware about that

Audio recording on cupcake

Hi all,
I have seen the AudioFlinger sources where it is always tries to set the
channel count to 1.
I have a TWL4030 ASOC audio codec,
when recording is initiated it starts giving error saying
*I/AudioHardwareALSA( 777): Initialized ALSA CAPTURE device

Hi All,
I am using webview.loadUrl("[link]"); to open a web page. But
in my office network it shows "web page not available" error. However, the
same project opened the google web page in my home. Our office network is
having proxy settings.
Could you please help me how to make webview.loadUrl("[link]");

Can we build and run only Dalvik VM on a SOC based on ARM11?

hope to get only Dalvik VM & core lib running on a ARM11 based SOC without
application framework. In other words, I want to use Dalvik VM as plain JVM.
Anyone who knows how to build only Dalvik VM and core lib for the other SOC
and how to run plain java code on top of that?

This question is slightly out of context, I have following questions,

1. Can I have anroid w/o the davlick vm, application framework, and APIS ?
2. The motivation here is write custom applications on top libraries
provided by anriod platform ? In others words, I want to strip of java
virtual m/c, application framework and use anroid ?

SD card error

Hi All,
I have ported android OMAP 3530 EVM.
Now I am facing a strange looking problem. If I partition my SD card with
ONLY single partition of vfat, & placing my media files
into that, then Android media player is able to play those files (though am
not able to hear anythng). My android is booting via nfs
