I have a similar issue with logging not working, but not this error.

On my Galaxy Nexus phone, logging works, but on my Nexus 7 tablet it doesn't.

I have used git to copy the project over so there are no differences (at least I can't see any or how there could be) so I'm very confused.

I'm on the same version of AIDE (1.01) and both devices are on Jelly Bean.

Is it possible I have a developer setting different in the phone?

Thanks in advance

Russ

I have found out what is wrong.

From Jellybean onwards, you cannot view the logs of other apps. So AIDE logcat is useless to use to see other apps logs.

The reason it still works on my phone, even though I have Jellybean on it, apparently, is because I had AIDE installed when I was on ICS, and at that stage I had permissions to view other apps logs. This apparently will retain even after an upgrade to JellyBean.

So for use on both of them, I am writing a simple text file output class, calling it MyLogger, just so I can put my own debug into a file on my sdcard. At the moment I dont need to know all the major errors with the app, it was more to debug stuff of my own making.

(Hope that makes sense I started to waffle at the end there!)

Received an email from the devs to run something via adb which would give AIDE log access again. Not home till tmrw to try it, but will report back soon.

I actually use aLogCat, which is free in the Play Store. Larger screen area to flip through.

Warwick, yes I tried it, but it didn't work. When I replied that it hadn't worked, I unfortunately got no follow up message.

Though there was an update to the app I think which mentioned that logs no longer worked on JellyBean.

Just wondering: Did you get a chance to try the suggested fix? I'm getting the same problem.

In jellybean you need root to be able to see all logs, just that. And somehow, andrew has a point, the logcat tool of aide is quite poor, it's far more useful and quicker to use a standalone logcat app.
