Is the Android Market statistics (download counts, active installs)
still working? I know that the counts showing in the Developer Console
are lost with every APK update that you submit, but as of today the
counts stay at zero. Either the statistics are (temporarily) no longer
maintained/displayed, or there has been some specific issue with my
latest update submission - hence this check whether others also
observe some anomaly with their Android Market statistics?
The stats are still showing. Haven't updated any new mobeegal release since the first version. So, not sure if only updated apps are showing the behavior you mentioned. The Console looks like its in "active" development, since there's some new features showing up (install us market, uk market etc., & "delete") now.

I have the same problem
Something wrong with market
since 2008-11-1,after I update a new release counts stay at zero
before that day,our app has already been download about 20,000 times
Users may think that our app is quite bad since they see the bare num
of download(less than 50!).
If you don't update you app for your user, you will have a high
download count to view
It's really unfair

Thanks NY! That seems to confirm that it is a general problem. I too
still receive e-mails from people who apparently downloaded and tried
my app from Android Market, while the stats stay at zero ever since my
latest update two days ago.

If you don't update
you rate keep high, and user will think,oh, a good app
If you receive many mails, and update for your users, you rate become
zero
and users will think, a bad work, because no one download it
so sad about these

If you do that on marketplace it'll also put you at the top of the "sort
by date" list, making people think you've updated it since the last poor
effort.

How's AndAppStore coming along? Does SlideME and Market giving you tough competition? Have you decided on giving preferences for FREE apps? A free only market place will be very much in demand, once Android market starts booking paid apps. What do you think?

AndAppStore is still rolling along nicely, visitors are down about 30%
compared to before marketplace allowed public uploads, but that's the
kind of figure I expected because we're out of the honeymoon period
where people want to download and try every app they can on their G1.
AndAppStore will stick with the free app focus for now, but I have a
couple of projects on the go which will help developers monetize their
apps if they want to, so hopefully free to download apps will stay
around even after marketplace offers a payment system :).
