Basically to export all of your facebook friends into a contact list. including email, phone #, address, etc, profile picture. but the list should dynamically update
Yes this could be a good idea, but at the same time not everybody that will use this will use Facebook, so they might want Myspace or Bebo maybie or many others,
but maybie what i would reccomend if they were going to go for this idea, then we could spend yes alot more time on the code, but include it for the big names, so myspace, facebook, msnlive, bebo... ( Cant think of any more at the moment ) then we keep all users happy with this.
Any responce is appretiated.

(that's why we need openID!) I think that the best approach would be similar to what the gaim and kopete guys did: multiple accounts (with different protocols) in one app.

if we use opensocial and facebook api we get the contact from all the big names (facebook, google, myspace etc) except from msn and yahoo I guess but I guess there must be an API for those two. We could start a lib with classes that implement the same tasks for various API maybe.
That is a great idea. Most of my contacts are all on facebook. This app would make it incredibly easy to import all of my contacts.
I think it would be a good idea to show status updates in their info as well. That way you have an idea of what they are up to if they choose to us the status updates via facebook.

Why not start a project under code.google? I would be really interested in this project, and I bet others would be too.

That sounds awesome. Would be better to take it to the next level and allow you to interact with popular sites so you can make plans with your friends.
Also, receiving contact updates would be key, if someone changes their phone number on myspace or facebook, it gives you a notice to update your contact.

I like the idea a lot. I have been trying to think of a Facebook Application to create and really like the possibility of bringing Android and Facebook together. Having a contact list of
- Name - Email - Phone # - Address - Integrate with GMaps - Birthday - Integrate with GCalendar - Profile Picture - Employer
One of my biggest issues over the years has been only having one contact list. I would like to see multiple contact lists instead of Groups. A business contacts, personal contacts, private contacts, school contacts, maybe facebook contacts, and an all contact minus the private ones of course.
I am really interested in helping with a project. Please let me know.

The new google OpenSocial can be used once its open to people, or you can request a sandbox there too.
This will not leave the development specifc to the Social networks like fb,bebo, etc.
You will have to keep in mind the number of application sharing done in these social networks that consume alot of space and are memory hogging, might as well, use a PC than hanging my smart phone/pda.
