So, here are some questions about the loser email. The link takes you
to a page where you get two questions. I just want to clarify...

May we publish your name attached to your entry?
May we give your contact information to judges who may want to contact
you?

Do these both pertain to your information given to judges? What does
"publish" mean? What's this about? Are these just judges that looked
at your app? Are judges in general getting a chance to look at apps?

I assume the summary is "can we give your name and contact info to
judges?". Is that correct? Answering "No" to the first question and
"Yes" to the second would seem logically inconsistent, which is what I
think is confusing me.

If its just to judges, not the general public, and it doesn't change
IP or privacy protection, then whatever. Sure. I just don't want my
fancy idea to be on a website somewhere.

Since there's a lot of fog today, I thought I'd be annoying and bump my own thread back up.  Can we get some detail on the opt in form?

By "publish" we mean post your name and a very short description of
your application (a one-liner I believe). The second question is more
self-explanatory, may we share your information with interested
judges.

Sorry, I forgot to add a bit to my first sentence. "Publish" is post
publicly, on the internet, for all to see as part of the Android
Application Gallery.

Justin,

May I ask whether there will be any further confirmation (i.e.
permission request) before publication of the gallery. As much as I
like to watch big corporations grow, I think some of us would rather
not hand their hungry development teams ideas on a platter whilst we
toil away individually. Having said that, I can grasp why some
applications would be suited to this - but some of us will have opted
in thinking that we were just giving the all-clear for information to
be passed to judges.

Regards,
Paul

P.S. Thank you for your responses so far. I don't mean to discourage
you; I appreciate the feedback.

There should've been a question explicitly - "May we publish your
application to the Android Application gallery? " before asking "May
we tag it with your name...".

The question about the name appears to be in the context of disclosing
the information to the judges and not to the Application gallery.
I too think that there needs to be another round of querying for
people who may have already responded yes, before publishing this
information publicly.

I would agree with this.  I found it confusing, although I didn't send in my answer till I heard back.

Also, I'd publish one of the ideas I sent but not the other.  I think it should be a little more fine grained.

I also agree with this.
i think most of us(the loosing party) dont want to publish our idea or information about our app publicly right now cz most of us will continue the app for the ADCII or other real time business.
GooGle can publish our(loosers) names/countries publicly but not the apps.
if any loosers decide to display his app publicly then they can

So i think a new Opt-in with these 3 queries

1) Like to publish app publicly ?
2) Like to publish information publicly ?
3) Like to publish information to the judges(OHA) ?

is required to remove the confusion.

I certainly do not want to have my app in the public gallery. The form
said vaguely about judges and ADC companies. This I want.
Please make a statement about this or provide options for sending our
app only to the ADC judges that may be interested and NOT publicly to
a gallery.
