We've been trying to submit since one hour before the deadline and we
couldn't get it. Now the submissions are closed. Does anybody know who
ca we contact to send our application directly?

I think you are out of luck... (and this is exactly why waiting for
the last minute to submit isn't very smart).

There were submissions that went through at 11:57PM. There was atleast a 5-10min window after 12, before the submissions were closed.

The exact reason for cengiz submission failure is known only to him. Cengiz, what was the reason for you were not able to submit on time?

Well, we couldn't get through for some reason. In one of those last
browser reloads we lost the submission form. I guess it doesn't
matter "why?' anymore because we are officially out of ADC at this
point.

The sorry part is that we were ready several hours before the deadline
and were doing cosmetic changes to the code. Hielko is definitely
right, we shouldn't have left the first submission to the last minute.
You should always submit a ready version of your code and then you can
still continue to make improvements to resubmit before closing time.

On the one hand, we don't blame Google for the overload of their
submission servers, because that is inevitable due to the unknown
nature of such a competition and due to people always leaving things
to the last minute.

What we recommend is that they should have provided a contact point
for those of us who had problems. I think after allowing several
months for the preparation, a time window in the order of hours should
not stop one from being included in such a competition. We were quite
panicked when the submission form disappeared and sent a few emails to
people we thought could help us but turned out otherwise.

On the other hand Google was nice enough to reply to this message
above privately, asking for the nature of our trouble, but we had
additional misfortune that made us too late to be counted in.
Basically they gave us a few hours to respond and we weren't even
watching that mailbox because we sent the emails I mentioned above
from another mailbox.

Hope this helps somebody not to repeat the same mistake in the
future.. Or, alternatively, you can just laugh your asses off.. :)

why haven't you guys submmited it days before the deadline even when it had
not been very completed? if you had, at least the result would not have been
so miserable.

Cengiz,

Thanks for the details. This certainly cleared up the whole thing for us.
