Hello, I would like to implement a messaging app between Android phones but without server. The registration IDs would be exchanged by SMS, mail, whatever... and then the send usually done by a server, would be done by an Android phone instead. Hi all,
There was an issue in the GCM/C2DM service that caused some messages to be
delivered twice. It affected messages posted between February 25th and
February 27th, and it's fixed now, but messages sent during that period
might still get delivered a second time.

This has been a sporadic problem since the old C2DM days. We request a registration ID, we receive a registration ID. We send the registration ID to our backend server. The backend server pushes an acknowledgement to device. All seems well from the server side but the message never arrives back at the device. Or sometimes it arrives 5-90 minutes late. Received multiple GCM registration responses

Got a snippet from a users log that show 11 incoming Action:com.google.android.c2dm .intent.REGISTRATION responses within 7 seconds. All reporting the same registration ID. Everything was handled correctly. This was a one time event. I have never seen it happen before or since. Anyone else notice anything like this.... more »
