That's a bit of a mystery. Since the system boots and you can invoke adb commands, it's quite clear that init and adbd are built properly.

I can't think of anything that'd specifically cause this. However, Mac builds are known to be flaky, so it's possible that something went randomly wrong while building it, and that the issue might disappear after doing another build.

I can do adb push / pull normally. My system:
Xcode 4.6.2
llvm-gcc-4.2
gmake 3.82

I checked permission of /system/bin/*
I when I boot into recovery, I was able to execute mksh just fine. 
I even tried to use mksh from my linux build (which works perfectly fine) but that didn't do much. 

There must be something stupidly simple that I'm missing. Any pointer would be appreciated.
