We are just over a day away from Mayor Gray's Budget Town Hall Meeting and I am trying to figure out how I will arrive. Should I:

1. Walk
2. Ride my personal bike
3. Ride Bikeshare to 3rd and H, NE
4. Ride Metro to Union Station and walk 2 blocks

Hello Ward 6!

On Thursday, Mayor Gray will be presenting his budget to the Ward at the Capitol Hill Montessori at the Logan School. He is proposing quite the investment in our libraries. Whether you want to check out a book or binge watch Season 5 of Buffy (See? I made it relevant), DCPL is one of the most awesome resources in the city and Mayor Gray wants to make it more awesome. (Yes, I have checked out Buffy DVDs)

Good! I'm glad I caught ya before the weekend. After the rain tonight, it is supposed to be sunny with highs in the 60s. That's perfect park weather for me! Most of Ward 6 has easy access to awesome parks: Lincoln Park, The Yards Park, Stanton Park, etc. NoMa is not so lucky, and will have to travel to other neighborhoods to enjoy some green space. That is, until parkland is created within the area.

If you haven't heard already, Mayor Gray is proposing $100M to be invested in affordable housing for FY '14. Do you think that is too much? Do you think it isn't enough? Are you worried about aspects of this proposal? You can see the budget proposal at budget.dc.gov

If you had the chance to ask Mayor Gray and his cabinet a question about affordable housing or any questions about his priorites for DC, would you take it? Here is a great opportunity for you to ask. The Mayor will be in Ward 6 on April 25th to present the budget and to answer your questions. Here is the info:

Upcoming DC Water Outage for Construction Work - Friday night 3/22 from 10pm-6am

I received notice from DC Water that on Friday evening 3/22 from 10 pm
until 6 am their contractor will be onsite to tie-in the newly
installed water main at BOTH the corners of 4th & M AND 4th & L. This

Neighbors,

DC Water will be shutting off the water for multiple blocks on Friday to
tie-in the large new lines that they have been installing recently. They
should be putting flyers on the doors of all affected houses as well (I had
one when I got home this evening).

There are two interesting meetings coming up very soon:

ANC 6C:
*Wednesday, February 13th at 7 pm* is the next monthly ANC 6C meeting at
214 Mass Ave NE. Of note, the development of the former Greyhound site
will be on the agenda - they are planning a large mixed-use project with
apartments, office, and LOTS of retail. Possible tenants include grocery,

A new year has started, and ANC 6C will be selecting all new members
for its committees. This year we have instituted a new policy: in
addition to the one member that each Commissioner can select to serve
on each committee, there will be three at-large members who can live
anywhere in ANC 6C.
