Being that this has been publicly announced, and the fact that numerous discussion forums across the web (including this one) have been reporting that the tracking is not functioning properly, tracking recognition is not functioning properly, and no one can seem to get any result reports; Wouldnt it make sense to post SOME kind of update or announcement on the status of the Analytics services?
For a service that is NOT in beta and out in the public, especially accessible by corporations, this is an embarassing public release. Extremely dissappointed.
It seems to me that they got in over their heads by not having a beta before converting Urchin into Google Analytics, plus offering it free to the public at the same time. I do hope they get things under control soon and let us know what's going on.
I agree. I appreciate their hard work to provide this service for free, and I have no doubt that it will be a great service eventually. But still - how long does it take to post a quick status update somewhere?
I spent a long time yesterday trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Turns out its just broken..
I paid my $199 monthly fee to Google at the beginnig of the month, like I have since signing up for Google/Urchin in May.
And apparently now none of my reports are being populated, and I also had no prior warning of this transition, and my clients are looking to me for answers.
So I will take a deep breath, calm down, and trust Google will do right by me fee-wise when they get this sorted out, and will get back to me with answers so I can save face with my clients.
Part of the fee I charge my clients is based on my clients having user access to Google/Urchin analytic reports.
Part of the fee is also based on me being a "Google Certified" AdWords expert and thereby in the loop.
As you can imagine, things have been pretty busy over here ;-) However, I do want to apologize for any frustration you're experiencing right now. And now, some updates:
Reports not updating-- please be assured that all data is being collected for every site as long as you've got the tracking code in place. We're in the process of populating all of your reports with this data, so expect to see your reports updating throughout the next several hours.
"Check status" link not detecting the code on your sites-- there is an issue with this feature that the engineers are working to resolve. In the meantime, if you've got the tracking code on your site and you're pretty sure that it's in there correctly, then it probably is. Again, this also won't affect any data collection.
Thanks again to all of you for being patient and bearing with us. I'll be popping back in throughout the day to see if I can provide further clarification.
Thanks so much AnalyticsPro. Even though the service still doesnt seem to be showing us any data, this update is much appreciated. At least we know are sure that you guys are aware of the problem and that it should be fixed in a couple hours. Looking forward to it. :)
7 hours have past since you posted this update, I still have no reports, and cant find any information on what is going on.. I am really looking forward to using Analytics, but it feels like someone just put Christmas on delay cause the elvs forgot to make the toys.
Thanks for the update..Hopefully tomorrow ( 48hours later ) I will have some reports
No data here yet, 48 hours after installation. I did intially get one update on a conversion report I built about 1 hour after I built it, but nothing since. Bummer.
Same here on my <a href="http://www.webvb.com" target="new">VB.NET blog</a>. I installed the script in the header about 30 hours ago. Regardless, I look forward to seeing this product soon.
