Subject: Robots looking for __utm.gif (but I don't use urchin!)
My server error logs have been filling up with file not found for
__utm.gif. I'm using Google Analytics, but I have never used the
urchin script on my site. All the requests are looking in my site
root, and there are many IP addresses looking, not search engines.

Are these robots looking for an exploitable hack?

What do you suggest I do? Redirect them someplace? Make a fake
__utm.gif file? Ignore?

Update:

The cause of this error was an update to a Wordpress plugin for Google
Analytics. The update deleted all the settings, and configured "I use
Urchin, too" as a default. Mystery solved!
