Subject: Outbound Links - What Can I Track ?
I plan on using this solution to track outbound links on my
sites  ....

http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?answer=27246

What information will I be able to associate with a visitor who clicks
an outbound link ?  For example....will GA tell me how many visitors
who came from my "free widgets" Google AdWords campaign clicked on
outbound link #2 ????  or how many of the visitors from organic search
"free widgets" clicked on outbound link #1 .... I am a newbie and
appreciate any answers you may provide...

Thanks,
JohnO

Hi John

Depends what you want track exactly. I had a similar problem using
analytics recently as I wanted to track how many visitors to my site
who came from an AdWords campaign clicked on a link. The Top Content
Report under the Content Performance menu will show your outbound link
the same as any other page and you can use the Analysis button to
cross segment by source. This will show you how many visitors came
from google cpc who clicked on that link versus organic versus other
sources.

The problem is that it will show you the number of visitors who
clicked, but not how many times they clicked if there is the option
for them to click multiple times. There is a solution to this too if
you're interested.

If thats not a problem, then the cross segment by source will work.

Hope that helps!
