Subject: click count wrong?
I have  a site where analytics shows all links to have the same amount
of traffic consistently. I could see this happening once or maybe even
twice in a lifetime, but continually? I get the same % in overlay for
every link on this page, is there something missing in scripting on my
end or what? My home page shows everything properly but when I go to
this particular page it seems that something is amiss. Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Site Overlay does not distinguish between multiple links on the same
page all pointing to the same place. It only looks at the URL of a
link and tries to find a match on the Top Content report. That's also
why some links don't show any numbers, because GA couldn't find a
match under Top Content.

There is a technique I read about that is to add some identifier
information to the querystring.. example:
for example: someurl?position=leftnav

Since they will each have distinct urls, it should make the report
more valuable.

All links are to different music schools that are referenced on this
site. From what I can gather from other reports concerning this site
we are one of, if not the highest, generator of traffic for many of
these schools, which is not matching up with the reports on this page.
What I am trying to identify is how many clicks are actually being
generated to which school. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance,

Rich

Can yo udirect me to where you read this? I am trying to track the
clicks to the different music schools listed on this page which isn't
quite lining up with other reports on this site which shows a much
higher traffic rate. I know from past records that something is no
longer working as it should. Any suggestions and recomendations would
be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Rich
