(somehow this didn't get through the first time round... strange...
now using the web interface)

Hiho,

as mentioned in a previous announcement, the second Amsterdam
SuperCollider
user group meeting will be on Wednesday, January 5th, from 7pm onwards
at
STEIM (entrance at the Utrechtse Dwarsstraat).

We already have one topic proposal from Robert van Heumen, to present
and
discuss his live sampling approach in SC.

If you have suggestions for more topics or want to present some of
your work,
let us know!

Please let me know if you plan to attend (or not), so that I can get
an
estimate of how many people to expect.

We have a google groups at:
http://groups.google.com/group/amsterdam-supercollider-users/
where you can join and discuss topics to be discussed during the
meetings.
And please join, as this will make sending out the announcements
easier :)

Hope to see you there in the fresh new year!

sincerely,
Marije

Hi all,

I'm not quite sure I will be able to make it this time, but I'll do my best. If I can be there and if there is time, I would be interested in hearing if somebody has ever tried something on the subject of audio fingerprinting or something similar in SC or could offer some advice. I posted a message via the mailinglist last week, but nobody responded. I guess the most difficult thing would be to implement an efficient algorithm to search in a large database (around 1000000 items) holding simple objects (strings).
I never tried to build and maintain such large collections of objects in SC and I'm aware of the fact that SC probably would not be the ideal language to use for such things. It would be interesting to see how far you could go with this though.

Hope to see you all tomorrow.

gr.

Michael

that's now double strange, since i replied to the email which was sent about the meeting. so i simply pressed the reply button. shouldnt that then answer the email?!

besides, why do i get this email like four days later? is this a gmail problem? or does it have to do with the google-group (server)?

btw, nice meeting. really liked it. MOOOOOORE :)))

groetjes

Sorry for the funky email behavior guys. It seems that certain messages were being queued for moderation by google groups while others weren't. I went in and approved all of them today, hence the flood of old posts. This is my first go at using google groups, so bear with me. :)
